Hi Fellow Fathers –
I hope you are able to join us at the Monthly Meeting this Friday, April 3rd at 8:00 pm at the Center (208 West 13th Street). Our first topic:
“I recently attended a funeral at which evangelicals were well represented. While discussing my life in a small group, I said: ‘I have kids, but I’m gay.’ In response, a young attorney sputtered, “I don’t think this is the time or place to discuss one’s personal beliefs.’ How does one deal with THAT?”
Please feel free to suggest other topics.
If you happen to be travelling to Indiana soon, here’s a suggestion from outsports.com co-founder Cyd Zeigler –
“Now that discrimination against LGBT people is legal in Indiana, I want to make sure I don’t support any business that has an issue with LGBT people. As soon as I get off the plane I’ll tell the taxi driver I’m gay and ask, “Is that OK with you?” If he so much as hesitates, I’ll wait for another driver. And I’ll ask him too. When I get to my hotel I will do the same thing. When I enter a restaurant for dinner I’ll ask the host. And I’ll ask the host to speak to the manager to ask her. And I’ll ask my waiter. If any of them hesitate, I will leave and find a restaurant that doesn’t hesitate to express inclusion.”
Hope to see you Friday,
